Last-mile-delivery professionals are driving vulnerable road users who are very often involved in traffic accidents with, unfortunately, fatal consequences in many cases. Indeed, they are exposed to danger both due to their continuous presence on the streets, but also, due to their own driving behaviour which may progressively deteriorate over time because of fatigue or other risk factors.
The Objectives:
- Improve the road safety skills of last-mile-delivery two-wheelers professionals (motorcyclists, cyclists, e-scooter riders) by developing and implementing an advanced vocational training approach, customized to their work-based needs.
- Exploit the effective mix of digital and in-person training methods on VET, to upskill and protect last-mile-delivery two-wheelers professionals from road accidents.
The expected results:
- Develop and implement a blended training procedure:
- online activities: virtual learning platform with tailor-made material on road safety, open course with relevant qualification certificate, examination scheme.
- in-person sessions on road safety and driving behaviour with experienced trainers (seminars, meetings, framework).
Pave the way on strategies to integrate occupational competences of enhanced driving behavior into existing requirements for last-mile-delivery two-wheelers drivers.
Achieve closer cooperation between the academia, vocational and private sector for innovative VET on urban logistics and safety.
